Court Updates Sugar Springs Lake Level Order Language

October 5, 2023 – GLADWIN, MI – On Friday, September 29th, the 55th Circuit Court of Gladwin County amended the lake level order for Lake Lancer and Lake Lancelot.

The court heard from the project’s lead engineer before approving the amendment. The amendment updated the special assessment district boundaries and the lake level order language to the current lake level survey datum. It also added variation language to the lake levels. The amendment to the lake level order does not impact the water levels of Lake Lancer and Lake Lancelot.

"The amendments to the lake level order brought it up to modern standards and made the district more equitable by ensuring every parcel that benefits from the lake levels is included,” said Terry Walters, chair of the Sugar Springs Lake Authority Board and Gladwin County Drain Commissioner.

The next steps in this process are to finalize engineering of the lake level projects, obtain project bids and prepare a special assessment roll and computation of costs.
